Set in 1301 at the end of Medieval times, the JULIET & ROMEO Franchise finds our most famous Star-Crossed lovers turning the tides on the history Shakespeare based his own story on, as they reveal the truth to the very future of the Empire. But the biggest twist in this most beloved of tales, is leaving the poetry of Iambic Pentameter in the past, for the original Pop Music that rockets these ever-present themes right to the heart of our characters in the most surprising, and perhaps most powerful way that has ever been seen, or heard, before... the greatest love story of all time, set to the greatest music of our time.

While a musical adaptation is perfectly suited to a well-known story like this, it’s undermined by Juliet & Romeo’s hollowness and condescension.

It’s really pretty bland, and with each turn in the plot you have to ask what the point of it actually is.

The thing is unremittingly dull and bland (not to mention cold, apparently). If it is good for anything it is good for providing deserved paid holidays to venerable older actors.

While a number of Shakespeare’s plays have been brought to film in ways that sometimes make it difficult to see the original work, this one is close enough that the changes are glaring. And these changes absolutely did not work.

The two leads possess pin-up good looks and share a modicum of chemistry, but neither have the dramatic chops to carry the tragic narrative.

This may feel a bit corny for viewers who know the play, but other audiences should find plenty to resonate with. And the themes remain vivid, even with some tinkering with the plot.

liked the musicial part of it, sometimes difficult to understand the words to song with the loudness of music. Great job. Fairly easy to understand story. Action packed, sword fighting, history.
