When yet another anniversary passes without a marriage proposal from her boyfriend, Anna (Amy Adams) decides to take action. Aware of a Celtic tradition that allows women to pop the question on Feb. 29, she plans to follow her lover to Dublin and ask him to marry her. Fate has other plans, however, and Anna winds up on the other side of the Emerald Isle with handsome, but surly, Declan -- an Irishman who may just lead Anna down the road to true love.

Mary F @MMcDF Jan 11 As an Irish person, this was just cringe on all levels. The main actor's Irish accent was brutal and ruined the film within a few minutes! Regardless, I am not a RomCom fan. Usually, I roll my eyes & seek shelter in the Sci-Fi/Horror genre(s). Still, every so often, I watch one & am pleasantly surprised. (Recently, I've uncharacteristically watched this one several times.) Amy's performance... Anna is someone that I can connect w/ on several levels. Her expressions & quirks are so adorable & funny! Amy's commitment to this role feels entirely genuine. I feel like I would be fortunate to have someone like her as a friend. Declan... I had no idea that I would be so drawn to this character. (I also wasn't prepared to suddenly find M.G. so incredibly appealing.) As he genuinely embraces his character, Matthew leaves little room to question his dedication to Declan's charm, humor & sensitivity. (I would LOVE to be friends w/ him.) So what? Someone who barely watches romance movies would like it! It was genuinely so funny! It's my third favourite romance movie ever and it has held that spot for years. The actors were great, the location was beautiful, the jokes were funny enough, the banter was entertaining. Geez, just ENJOY something guys- watch it with fresh eyes- try not to compare it to every single movie you've ever watched just to hate it.
