Ten years ago, an inexperienced coal miner named Tom Hanniger caused an accident that killed five men and put a sixth, Harry Warden, into a coma. A year later, on Valentine's Day, Harry woke up and murdered 22 people with a pickaxe before dying. Now Tom has returned home, still haunted by the past. And something else is back in Harmony: a pickaxe-wielding killer in a miner's mask, who may be the ghost of Harry, come to claim Tom and his friends.

Critics Consensus

This gory, senses-assaulting slasher film is an unpretentious, effective mix of old-school horror stylings and modern 3D technology.

My Bloody Valentine has lously gender politics for a slasher movie, and that's both disappointing and disconcerting because the film has probably made enough money to merit a sequel and inspire other 3D horror movies.

In the end, the movie is a true blood-splashed valentine to fans of the cheesy genre that spawned it.

My Bloody Valentine 3D doesn't have nearly enough fun with either its jazzy technology or its inherently campy premise.

The movie provides a few hearty laughs, a profusion of nonsensical stupidity, and plenty of so-bad-it’s-good moments to entertain viewers in the back row, whispering to each other about the inanity of it all.

This film may be a remake of the 1981 classic but it creates its own identity, carving out its own place within the horror genre

Solving the crime and cheering on heroes is something of a lost cause, as most of the roles are just unintelligent enough to inspire disgust.

Aren't 3D horror movies great? Said no one ever. I guess the kills were kind of cool but seriously that's all it has going for it. Only good for a one time watch.

A very solid remake! CGI was overused though

This is just a fun horror movie with a good amount of gore. Not a fan of the forced 3D effects attempts, but it was par for the course in late 2000s
