Nothing in Common is one of those movies where the whole is unequal to the parts.

"Nothing in Common" is unnecessarily long, and it constantly bogs down in overwrought scenes...

The elements for a great film are here. Too bad it’s so easy to hate all of the characters. Believe it or not, Tom Hanks is hard to like this time. Incredibly annoying. Gleason is phoning it in. Halfway in you won’t believe you are only half way in.

Tom Hanks character was a frustrating weak person begging to be loved while showing disdain for his parents. The supporting cast proved no ability to elevate his character. Gleason played a sappy version of Willy Loman badly. I actually felt sorry for Gleason in this role, it was beneath his ability as an actor. Nothing in Common has nothing going for it.

This is a good movie. I like it for it's comedy, and I like it for its seriousness. Tom Hanks, and Jackie Gleason, really act well together in this film. I recommend that you see this movie.
