Critics Consensus

Plus One reinvigorates the rom-com with an entertaining outing elevated by well-matched leads and a story that embraces and transcends genre clichés.

A lack of originality is compensated for by charm and committed performances in this sweetly beguiling revamp of the Four Weddings formula.

Erskine, with her earthy chuckle and precision-tooled comic timing, is the real discovery here. She's a smutty, sniggering joy in the role and I can't wait to see what she does next.

Plus One loves the spectacle of love, but it’s not clear it really loves Alice and Ben, or wants to take the time to get us to love them.

I consider Plus One to be the most underrated rom-com of the last five years.

One of the best films I saw at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, Plus One is a delightfully charming summer romcom, the type that seems to be disappearing in theaters and thriving on streaming services.

This show is just way too slow. I am so bored by nothing happening. It is so disappointing.

Easy, breezy, zero stress watch. Exactly the kind of movie you throw on when you just want to relax and smile for 90 minutes!

The chemistry both these actors had in this movie was insane. like I genuinely felt like I was in their relationship like I felt the love between them and that last speech was like generally amazing. I was just like everything about this movie like the way all of our relationships were in the two gay guys I love them. They were generally amazing actors and the characters in general.

A genuinely witty and romantic movie. The chemistry between both leads is just a joy to bask in and makes it to easy to root for the friendship to turn into something more. Always a go-to movie for me!
