See more derek l @RT51637195 12/27/2022 Secret Society of Second Born Royals is quite an underwhelming attempt to do a teen-superhero flick that really lacked anything exciting in terms of its plot and direction in addition to the characters that didn't really seem to have any chance to shine. See more 02/02/2022 Second-Born Royals begins as an interesting idea but ends tarnished by partially-developed mechanics, unoriginal characters, and obvious plot twists. A Society of Second-Born Royals who defend the world and keep order could have made a great spy thriller if handled properly. However, the idea becomes encumbered by adding gimmicky superpowers. Not only does the story not explain why the second-borns of royal families exclusively have powers beyond saying "genetics," it fails to maintain that explanation moving forward. Almost immediately after we get the line about genetics, we're told one of the second-borns is a twin, born a minute later than her brother, yet has powers when her brother doesn't, despite the only difference in their order of birth being chance and not genetics. Second, the characters are stereotypical, which the movie even acknowledges by referring to the group as the breakfast club. From the secret, but obvious, secondary villain to the protagonist, every character is one-sided and hollow, intended to fit a single designated role and character development arc. A personal point on representation, our token gay side character mentions his husband by name, which I both hated and appreciated. I'm assuming they hoped to be able to argue that "at least we didn't just say he was gay" when it would eventually be pointed out they were making a character gay to tick a box. As for plot twists, none of them were truly surprising. Everything from the secret second villain to the final weapon is laid out. As Chekhov said, if a gun is mentioned, assume it'll have a ticking clock for suspense and that the hero will eventually turn it against the villain at the last moment. My name is Hiya, and I am going to be doing a movie review of "The Secret Society of second-born royals" before we get started you can watch this movie onDisney+Hotstar and this review does contain spoilers. So let's begin. The movie is based on second-born royals from around the world so the protagonist is a teenager from a small country named Illyria. The Royal family of Illyria consists of Sam who is the main protagonist, Her elder sister Eleanor who is the next heir to the throne, and their mother Catherine but originally the family consisted of Sam, Eleanor, their brother, mother, and father who was the king and their uncle. But unfortunately their father, brother, and uncle died in a fatal plane crash. Now that you know a bit about the family. Let's talk about Sam. She believes that the monarchy system is unfair as only the people from the royal family get to rule the country while if there is a parliament the citizens get to vote and run for who will run the country. So now what do you think the title of the movie means? The secret society of second-born royals means all the second-born royals have a secret society to protect the world from danger and all the second-born royals have an ability like a superpower and are told about when they turn 16. Sam and other teenage second-born royals were called for training where they learn to control and use their abilities after a few weeks of training the head of the society will declare if they will be part of the society or their memories will be erased if they are not ready for it. But in this batch of kids, they had to deal with a threat much before they got their batches. In my opinion, the movie contains everything. It teaches life lessons. It has suspense, comedy and it is kid-friendly. There are a few flaws, for example, Sam's best friend Mike's house is shown to be different at the start of the movie and the end of the movie but otherwise, the movie is great for people who like suspense movies.
