Just after a bad breakup, Charlie MacKenzie (Mike Myers) falls for lovely butcher Harriet Michaels (Nancy Travis) and introduces her to his parents. But, as voracious consumers of sensational tabloids, his parents soon come to suspect that Harriet is actually a notorious serial killer -- "Mrs. X" -- wanted in connection with a string of bizarre honeymoon killings. Critics Consensus

So I Married an Axe Murderer is a unique rom-com with moments of heart and hilarity -- even if they're all too scattered to cohere into a consistent whole.

The relationship between Travis and Myers is boring; too bad the whole film wasn't about the Scottish family. They deserve their own picture.

A tres hip slice of life about the dilemma of marital commitment with just a pinch of Hitchcock providing the cutting edge.

Myers pumps out a river of inventive shtick, but it doesn't cohere or connect; he seems less a character than a comedian doing couch time on a late-night talk show.

Reminiscent of old Forties comedy-thrillers, it's all delightfully silly and often hilarious.

…what puts this film into the firmament is the evocation of Charlie’s Scottish family, red-haired, football loving abrasive characters who take the comedy beyond stereotypes to surreal levels… an under-appreciated comic gem...

Adore this movie. So many memories and quotables! It's also a perfect time capsule of the early 90s. Love love love

Vastly underrated movie, a classic of the genre, whatever genre it is, whether it be comedy, romantic comedy, post-re-Beat word smackdown, an exploration of hipness, life on the edge, raw emotion and risk, all mixed up in a Mike Myers sorta way.

Such a classic! Mike Myers at his best! So many quotes my husband and I use to this day. It’s so funny, with hilarious characters, especially Charlie’s Scottish family. The police chief trying to be tough like in the movies is hysterical! It is actually a sweet love story too! One of my favorites of all time! I could watch this over and over.

All-time faves!! Such a comfort movie for me, a guy who grew up with Wayne’s World and Mike Meyers at his peak, the humor in this one just…gets me.
