Everyone's favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all new movie we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with "scream time." To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, IT, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?

Critics Consensus

Altogether ooky, and not in a good way.

Audience Says

The story's sort of thin and it doesn't really capture the characters' classic flavor, but as a family-friendly viewing option, The Addams Family 2 mostly delivers.

There are references to pop culture landmarks (Jaws, Easy Rider) but the screenplay, the work of four writers, lacks sparkle and a little of it goes a long way.

I had to go back to my notes to remind myself what even happened in the film. The answer is not much.

The Addams Family 2 feels more like a commercial product churned out with minimal effort instead of a truly satisfying sequel to its passable but still promising predecessor.

The film simply tears across the country looking for a reason to be. Too often, its just a bunch of things happening at once without really moving the plot forward.

The Addams Family 2 repeats what the first movie accomplished by taking the popular family and turning them into one of the most boringly generic kids films in recent years.
