The main character’s strange, spastic moments became exhausting, and there were times when I found myself bored and losing interest. His behavior felt so over the top that it distracted from the story instead of helping it connect. The acting was fine, but the character development felt forced in places. The film tried to add depth to situations that did not need it, while other parts lacked development. The screenplay struggled to move the plot in a clear direction, and too often the story flatlined instead of building toward something more engaging. Ultimately, The Roughneck is fine as a streaming movie, where expectations are different. If it were trying to deliver something bigger, I think its flaws would be much more noticeable. It is an ok watch for what it is, but I would not recommend it or revisit it. See more Kyle M @RT85560853 2 days ago Roughneck was a major disappointment. Bad acting, mostly no-name actors, a weak story, and some really terrible CGI that looked cheap and unfinished. The attention to detail was also hilarious. There’s a scene where he opens a Zippo, but when the camera zooms in, it’s suddenly a Bic. Overall, it felt low-budget and poorly put together. Definitely not worth the time or money.
